Guided by Jessica Pezzato, Registered Psychologist and Founder of VitHelp — with lived experience of vitiligo.

You wake up and the first thing you notice is your skin — not how your body feels, but how it looks today.

The patches. The changes. The comparisons. The questions from others.

Over time, these experiences can shape how you think about yourself and how you move through the world.

What if, instead of fighting your body or your skin, you learned practical psychological strategies to develop a more grounded and flexible relationship with it?

This course is designed to introduce evidence-based tools that support body image resilience while living with vitiligo.

The Body Image Resilience Approach

This course introduces the Body Image Resilience Approach — a structured framework grounded in established psychological principles.

The approach recognises that body image experiences involve both cognitive and physiological processes. Rather than focusing on thoughts or emotions in isolation, it explores how awareness, regulation skills, and psychological flexibility can be developed together.

Through this framework, you’ll be introduced to strategies that support greater understanding of body image patterns, increase awareness of distress responses, and encourage more flexible ways of responding to self-critical thoughts and avoidance behaviours.

At the centre of this approach are two core tools:

The Body Mind Resilience Approach Pyramid

The Pyramid outlines a structured progression for exploring body image experiences — beginning with awareness, developing regulation skills, increasing mind–body awareness, and applying psychological flexibility in daily life.

Rather than focusing on rapid change, this framework emphasises gradual skill development and reflective practice. The structure is designed to support a thoughtful and paced approach to body image work.

The Body Mind Resilience Wheel

The Wheel brings the core concepts together in a practical, visual format.

It introduces a range of evidence-informed strategies explored throughout the course, including CBT-informed thinking tools, ACT-based flexibility practices, mindfulness, exposure principles, distress tolerance skills, and self-compassion exercises.

Rather than focusing on a single technique, the Wheel highlights how different strategies may be applied in different situations.

At the conclusion of the program, you’ll receive access to your Body Mind Resilience Wheel — a structured guide designed to support ongoing reflection and skill application.

A Word From Jess

As a registered psychologist, I have worked with many people who feel caught in an exhausting cycle of body image struggles — doing everything they are “meant” to do, yet still feeling weighed down by self-criticism, avoidance, and shame.

Alongside my clinical work, living with vitiligo has deeply shaped the way I understand body image. Navigating visible change, uncertainty, and the social responses that come with vitiligo has shown me, both personally and professionally, how complex and ongoing body image challenges can be. Insight alone is rarely enough. What people need is support that acknowledges real-world experiences, emotional ups and downs, and the changing relationship we have with our bodies over time.

Through this work, it became clear to me that effective body image support needs more than a single strategy or mindset shift. It requires structure, flexibility, and practical tools that support both the mind and the body — especially during moments of vulnerability, not just when things feel manageable.

This understanding led to the development of the Body-Mind Resilience Approach, a framework designed to reflect how change actually happens: gradually, non-linearly, and with compassion. It brings together evidence-based psychological approaches, including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, exposure, and self-compassion, into a clear, step-by-step model that can be adapted to different challenges, including those related to living with vitiligo.

To support this further, I created the Body-Mind Resilience Wheel — a practical, visual tool that helps you respond flexibly to body image difficulties as they arise, rather than feeling overwhelmed or unsure of what to do.

This course is grounded in years of clinical experience, research-informed practice, and a deep understanding of the emotional impact that visible difference can have on body image and self-worth. My intention is to offer tools that feel supportive, realistic, and genuinely usable in everyday life — not quick fixes, and not perfection.

You do not need to change your skin or your body to build resilience.
With the right structure, skills, and support, it is possible to develop a more compassionate and steady relationship with yourself — and that is exactly what this course is designed to help you do.
